Hooked on heroin and a girl he can´t shake, Alex battles to find himself and the life he so quickly lost. All The Hippes Are Dead is a drug-fueled, sex-crazed coming-of-age novel like no other, placing Henning firmly in the cult-classic district of the literary map. 1. Language: English. Sprache: Deutsch. Erzähler: Timo Blunck. Seconds before the Earth is demolished to make way for a galactic freeway, Arthur Dent is plucked off the planet by his friend Ford Prefect, a researcher for the revised edition of The Hitchhiker´s Guide to the Galaxy who, for the last 15 years, has been posing as an out-of-work actor. Together this dynamic pair begin a journey through space aided by quotes from The Hitchhiker´s Guide (´´A towel is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have.´´) and a galaxy full of fellow travelers: Zaphod Beeblebrox, the two-headed, three-armed ex-hippie and totally out-to-lunch president of the galaxy; Trillian, Zaphod´s girlfriend (formally Tricia McMillan), whom Arthur tried to pick up at a cocktail party once upon a time zone; Marvin, a paranoid, brilliant, and chronically depressed robot; and Veet Voojagig, a former graduate student who is obsessed with the disappearance of all the ballpoint pens he bought over the years. Where are these pens? Why are we born? Why do we die? Why do we spend so much time in between wearing digital watches? For all the answers stick your thumb to the stars. And don´t forget to bring a towel! 1. Language: English. Narrator: Stephen Fry. Audio sample: http://samples.audible.de/bk/rand/000600/bk_rand_000600_sample.mp3. Digital audiobook in aax.
Flasher is the story of a one-time hippie love pirate, slum goddess, a Ruby Tuesday of the ´60´s who mutated into a blossoming writer on the Lower East Side art scenes in 1990´s. When our feminist Bukowski meets a sculptor who designs fetishwear at a New Years Day party, her life changes and becomes a consideration of the values and costs of love and friendship, sexual freedom (is there such a thing?), and the importance of family - real and inherited. Influenced by D. H. Lawrence, Colette, Diane di Prima, Camus, and Simone de Beauvoir - Litzky´s heroine is unforgettable, transgressive, tender and you-won´t-stop-laughing funny! 1. The ´´annual” Saint Patrick’s Day party hosted by Tim and Jamie Malone in their small northern New Mexico community is their first in many years. But it also marks their last as they prepare to move to the Midwest. For Albuquerque attorney Neil Hamel, going to the party is a reunion of sorts with various old friends she spent a year carousing with in a small town in Mexico in the late 1960s. Just about everyone seems to have made some move from hippie to mainstream except Lonnie Darmer, who - as in the old days - gets too drunk to drive home. Neil drives them both to Lonnie’s little house in Santa Fe and wakes the next morning to discover her missing. Lonnie is found dead in an Anasazi ruin in the mountains near Santa Fe, her body unscathed. The police immediately conclude Lonnie committed suicide, and her friends seem almost relieved to concur - all except Neil. As she investigates her friend’s death, suspects suddenly abound. Even Neil herself comes under suspicion, as the real killer draws ever closer, eager to satisfy a newfound appetite for killing. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Meredith Mitchell. I suggest the idea that the hippie movement was a communist movement, with just about no street players having a clue thereof. Those who knew, seized opportunities accordingly. The leaders, the community organizers, described within, took full advantage of rebellious youth. We´ve all witnessed 45 years of bash America, which is now at a fever pitch with our illustrious politicians and attorneys stomping the last remnants of America into oblivion, as constituents just say yes. The example of political correctness as generated by a political party defines your mold of thought. This is not the liberty that drew millions to the promise land, it is the tyranny of communism that is rapidly consuming America. This is the ideological ´´change´´, that is core to the ´´Progressives´´ in this country, and was put on steroids by the left side of the Baby-Boomer Generation, that I un-affectionately call, ´´Hippie-dumb´´, because it is. I grew up in a family of 12 kids in Southeastern Michigan, and graduated from high school in 1969. Within a few months, I was listening to plenty of Jimi Hendrix, and soon became ´´experienced´´ with several kinds of drugs. I went to college for two years and legally avoided the draft. I smoked pot for about 35 years, but as it turned out, I spent half of that time weaning myself from it. Leaving Hippie-dumb behind is one of the best things I have done. The best thing is reading the King James gospel, and when I finished, I sensed an awareness of a presence, that said, without the knowledge of the Bible, one could be in trouble in the next life, and possibly in this life, and that this is a true story, the whole Bible, and that I know it is a true story. 1.
